Book Barrage

I am having the exact same problem this morning. I received a $40 book with of course, $8 postage and handling. I called the customer service number on the bill. A foreign accent answered. The accent was so thick that I requested to speak to another representative in the US. (I don't usually have to do this since I have lived in and traveled to several foreign countries.) The rep transferred me to someone in the US--only handled the magazines. Gave me a number of Oxmoor House Books. For 2 hours it has been busy. I just called the original number and got another foreign accent with static on the line who told me to call back this afternoon. This is what I am going to do. I am going to be proactive. I am going to return the book following their instructions. I am going to pay for tracking and receipt. I am sending a copy of a certified letter informing this company that I do not wish to receive any more books, and if I inadvertently agreed to having these "previews" sent, I opt out. Wish me luck. Sad thing is I was a charter subscriber of Southern Living when I was 22 years old, and I still subscribe to the magazine off and on. No more. I really love the magazine. All this began when they sold out to Oxmoor House.

This company has "preyed" on my 86-year-old mother for almost a year now. Keep billing her for a book she paid for and sending her books she didn't order and requiring her to pay return postage.

Terrible company. My mother purchased a book, paid for it by check and has been billed for the same book over and over again. She sent letters with the check number, copies of the check, and still they write threatening letters. Sent her another book recently; she did not order this book. Had to pay postage to return it after talking with them on the phone on how to return it. Now she's being billed for that book as well and threatened with going to collections. She has asked them to take her off their list; they haven't. She has called, written letters, visited her bank all to no avail. At this point in time, I say just go to collection - maybe they will be more reasonable. I have never written a complaint review. This company deserves it more than any other.

Oxmoor house books insider complaint

I work for oxmoor house and they do really suck! i cant believe they can get away with the things they do. I have had old woman call in crying cuz they have no idea how the books was but on there card.... People get pissed at me because we are sending them books, but they have no idea that they are on a subscription. They do need to be stopped. This is bad and we should not be doing this! I'm sorry, but I'm sure everybody else is not. I don't think its right people. Like i said.... this is just a big fraud!
